So , turn off power to the outdoor and indoor unit. Take the control cover off the outdoor unit and look for the contactor. See photo below push on the plunger in the middle it is probably stuck. I have a Trane XE1200 when the heat cycle first comes on the unit reverses to defrost the condensing unit and the aux heat inside comes on. The condensing unit is not freezing up. I do not understand why the unit when first turns on initiates a defrost cycle. Is this normal?
