Bows are not inferior crossbows. Bows are backup ranged weapons that exist to give theifs and fighters sick spells and all the time effects while still having the ability to do respectable damage in a pinch. You're not supposed to main a bow as a ranger (or at last this seems to be what larian has settled on).
