We dominated the pump market, but the Italians ruled the semi-autos until recently when Mossberg released the 940 Pro Tactical semi-auto shotgun. The Beretta just offers the best bang for your buck, and the added cost of the Benelli really isn't worth it. The Mossberg 930 is unreliable junk. Guy I used to shoot with had one and the action felt like it was machined with a Dremel tool. The Beretta 1201FP uses the same SureFire forend as the Benelli M1, but it has two additional spacers for the 1201, one at the receiver and one at the barrel lug. The receiver end spacer goes around the mag tube and has two set screws that secure it in place. In the Beretta 1301 Tactical vs. Benelli M4 debate, the choice ultimately hinges on the specific needs and preferences of the shooter. The Beretta 1301 Tactical excels in terms of speed, agility, and cost-effectiveness, making it an ideal choice for those prioritizing rapid target acquisition and a friendly price point. The Franchi makes more sense, dollar for dollar -- but it doesn't have the characteristic Benelli styling, with a lot of little detailed styling cues. The beretta will shoot softer. Both guns will function fine with reasonable cleaning. A friend left his benelli go without cleaning one season and at the end he did have problems. You still need to take care of them or both will malfunction. The Beretta 1201 (recoil operated) was closer to the Benelli M2 The 1301 is gas operated (unless I'm mistaken) and is a lot closer to the M4 because of that. Jan 5, 2023 · Beretta is a gas gun. It does not rely on recoil to operate. You can shoot very light loads in it which reduces recoil. Benelli is an inertia gun. It requires a certain amount of recoil to function consistently. Inertia guns tend to recoil more and have less flexibility in the shells that will operate it properly. Beretta shoots softer, takes light target loads, is adjustable for cast as well as drop. Benelli is lighter, adjustable for drop only, recoils a bit more, is a little picky with target loads, easier to clean and maintain. Trigger pull is a little heavier on Benelli but not bad. It's also quite a bit cheaper, locally the 1301 is $1100 and the M4 is $1800, if money is at all a concern get the 1301, it's an amazing gun.The biggest differences are that the Beretta 1301 is lighter, Benelli M4 has a pistol grip option, and the systems used to cycle the action.
