Turn up dismemberment, death, nests, hunger. Make the world harder and more realistic as you feel, because you can always edit advanced settings when you import. Accept death like you earned a life to remember, avoid reloading saves unless you wipe. It only takes 1 character to bounce back with a blood fueled vendetta.
