Hi guys, Over the weekend, I purchased a 1986 Mercury XR2 150. I have read up on the motor but, I want more specific details on the motor. For example, what rpms does it runs, the timing ignition, exhaust housing, carbs, etc. Everything that sets is apart from the 150 Black Max I replaced it with. XR2 and XR4 came with 4 1/4 in lowers. XR6 came with either 4 1/4 or 4 3/4 in lower.

My best guess is the high speed charge coil in the stator. It looks like it's getting fuel, but not firing above a certain RPM. A stuck float needle won't let it idle.
