My dad got the X macro and I got the XL. We were out shooting the other day and I swapped slides to see how much of a difference each slide made on the opposite frame. I'll admit I don't mind the comped slide on the X frame but I did like the XL slide on the macro frame a lot more than the comped slide.

Just something magical about the feel.
