Simplisafe keypad not working.

I just received my Simplisafe system and am trying to get it installed. I plugged in the base station and that turned on just fine. Turned on the keypad, but it will not connect to the base station. I've tried removing the batteries from both the keypad and the base station but it still will not connect.
